Brownlow Health GP Partner Honoured with MBE for Transforming Care for People Experiencing Homelessness

Brownlow Health is delighted to announce that Deborah Faint, GP Partner at the organisation, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in The King’s Birthday Honours for her outstanding services to general practice for people experiencing homelessness.

Dr Faint has dedicated nearly 30 years to improving healthcare access and outcomes for some of Liverpool’s most vulnerable communities. Widely recognised as a leader in inclusion health, her work has focused on addressing the complex needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, trauma and social exclusion.

She has been the driving force behind Brownlow Health’s specialist Homeless Service, which provides tailored healthcare and holistic support to people experiencing homelessness across the city. Under her leadership, the service has played a vital role in breaking down barriers to care and improving access for patients who often struggle to engage with traditional healthcare services.

Dr Faint is known for championing a compassionate, person-centred approach, helping to transform how care is delivered to those facing multiple disadvantages. Her work has ensured that services are more accessible, respectful and responsive to the unique circumstances of each individual.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Faint has made a significant contribution to the future of general practice as a GP trainer and mentor. She has supported and inspired generations of healthcare professionals, embedding values of equity, empathy and inclusion across the profession.

She has also led wider service transformation in some of Liverpool’s most deprived communities, earning widespread respect for her commitment to tackling health inequalities and improving outcomes for underserved populations.

Her work has made a real and lasting difference to Brownlow Health and to the communities we care for. We are incredibly grateful for her commitment, compassion and leadership over the years, and this recognition is a fitting reflection of the impact she has had on so many lives across Liverpool.
